This is my only soundboard from the early days. It came from the band and, ordinarily, I wouldn't post something from them but Tim never gave me back MY tape. I will explain.
A few days after a really good show at the Dugout, I was standing in the Treehouse committing a minor misdemeanor with Tim. I can't say exactly when it was but I'm pretty sure it was late winter or early spring of 1987. I don't know how I wound up in the Treehouse that day, either but there I was talking to Tim about taping and how they were so cool to be all-in on it. Then I made a mistake and pulled out my fresh Dugout tape. I remember the show was particularly hot and that there was a killer We Will Rock You on there. I don't remember the date...Spring 87 is all I know. "You should hear this. It's hot," at which point Tim pulled out a tape and said "This one rocks, we made it." Turns out it's a set from CBGB's. We swap and agree to swap back soon. His tape was a dub but mine was the show master, heard only a couple of times and, as yet, undubbed.
Big mistake. Never saw it again, of course, but I did have a great soundboard from the Grand Ol' Opry of Punk Rock. The room is boomingly empty but the sound is terrific, as terrific as it could be on a cheap Normal Bias analog cassette
No surprises on the set list but the eponymous song is in there and I always like that.
